``DSSC``: The DEPMOS Sensor with Signal Compression =================================================== The operation manual can be found on [Alfresco](https://docs.xfel.eu/share/s/EHtr1QLLRvGRIqaCBlcddQ "Alfresco Manual") The DSSC detector is one of the three 1 Mpixel 4.5 MHz detector projects being developed for the XFEL.EU. It is the one specially dedicated to the detection of soft X-rays, in the range between 0.5 and 6 keV. The detector is developed by a Consortium comprising DESY, the university of Heidelberg, the Milan Politecnico and the University of Bergamo, together with XFEL.EU, which takes care of the detector assembly and integration in the beamline, and of the calibration. Two versions of this detector exist, the sensor and the first part of the front-end electronics being different. The first detector that will be assembled at XFEL will use arrays of miniSDD detectors, while a following development foresees the use of DEPFET sensors. The DSSC detector will be operated in vacuum, cooled down to -20°C at the sensor level. The four quadrants will be able to move in vacuum in both directions perpendicular to the beam. The data taking goes through the standard train-builder system of XFEL and the triggering and VETO is done using the standard XFEL hardware for that.
