Mpod trouble shooting¶
Trouble shooting is required when:
- the state of the mpod Karabo device is ERROR, or
- the state is UNKOWN, or
- the state is not ERROR, but there is a behaviour issue.
If trouble shooting does not help, then phone OCD. The phase space for potential faults is large and only those conditions likely to be fixable by the user are described.
ERROR state¶
ERROR means that the crate controller is responding but a condition exists which does not allow crate operation.
Trouble shoot by doing the following actions and clicking the device Reset
button after each to see if the problem is resolved.
- check that the status message device property does not indicate that the crate is in LOCAL mode. If it is go to the crate and switch it to REMOTE by pressing the ON/OFF switch to ON.
- check that the ignoreFlags device property in the
crateNode
node is True and if False set it True.
UNKNOWN state¶
UNKNOWN means that communication with the mpod crate controller fails.
Trouble shoot by doing the following actions in the order given and clicking
the device Reset
button after each. As communication errors are typically
identified by timeout wait 60s after a Reset
before proceeding to the next
action.
- check that the hostname device property is set correctly
- check that crate controller is reachable on the network by pinging it
- check that the mpod crate mains power and network patch cables are connected.
Behaviour issue¶
Behaviour issues are usually associated with channels.
- if the channel status is TRIPPED, then open the overview scene’s
Reset
link and use the option buttons show. - if the channel status is INTERLOCKED, then the problem is external to the mpod.
