The Laser Laboratory

The laser laboratory is located in 0.510. Robert Carley is responsible for it.

Network environment and control structure

We have 3 different subnets in the laser lab.

  • Office network: 192.168.140.0/24
  • Private network: 172.16.1.0/24
  • Network intended for the use of Gotthard: 10.253.11.0/1

Comment: All of those subnets can be accessed when logging into exflpcx18737 via the office net.

Workstations

  • exflpcx18737: Main workstation running the karabo-broker and the gui-server.
  • exflqr40522: Laptop usually on laser table intended for more convenient control of movable parts on the table. Karabo-client is installed.

Controls

Remote connection

We can access karabo by (1.) directly ssh into exflpcx18737 (over internal net or the office net, alternative name: scs-laslab-con-1). Another option (2.) is creating a local link to the gui-server.

  1. Direct access
    • Connect to office net or private net (Wired settings: select the corresponding connection)
    • ssh -X wp86team@exflpcx18737
    • source karabo/activate
    • karabo-gui &
  2. Link to gui-server and work locally.
    • Connect to office net (select corresponding connection in ‘wired settings’)
    • ssh -L 44444:scs-laslab-con-1:44444 <username>@exflgateway
    • Locally: source karabo/activate, karabo-gui, connect to localhost:44444

On site maintenance

  • On site you can attach a keyboard, monitor and mouse.
  • login as wp86team, usual password
  • source karabo/activate
  • karabo-gui

Project structure

There are two main projects in the topic SCS_LASLAB. They are listed under the master project SCS:

  • SCS_LASERLAB
  • DETLAB_GOTTHARD_DAQ_RUN_MGMT
